Donate now to provide funding for transportation so school children may visit Pompeys Pillar National Monument each year.

Although the structure of a classroom setting is important to our youth’s education, it is vital that we let our children explore places and sites beyond those four walls. Allowing our children to connect what they learn in school with the outside world gives an experience they will never forget. Unfortunately, a lack of funds and strict budget crunches often prevents a class from ever going on a field trip or leaving the classroom.

It is the Friends of Pompeys Pillars’ goal to provide transportation funding to schools who can not afford the financial burden, so that no elementary student of Yellowstone County or surrounding area, misses an opportunity to pile up in a big yellow school bus to go on a culturally enriched field trip to Pompeys Pillar National Monument.

This is where we humbly ask for your help. Your generosity is key for us to be able to continue to provide funding for field trip transportation costs. We kindly ask for your assistance with our Busing Transportation Fund campaign.

Following their curriculum, these students are given the opportunity to experience hands on interpretation of the Lewis & Clark Expedition, in a real, authentic setting. Field trips to historical sites not only give somewhat confounding textbook lessons a real-life context, but they provide students with a sense of appreciation for our nation’s history and other cultural heritages.
